Election Could Revive Congressional Review Act

As a result of last Tuesdayâ??s election, 2017 will mark the first time in 88 years that a new Republican president will face a Senate and House of the same party. In this environment, President-elect Donald Trumpâ??s promises of sweeping regulatory repeals may not be as unrealistic as they seemed when he made them.

Republicans are already talking about new legislation to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, amend the Dodd-Frank Act, and reverse regulations such as EPAâ??s Clean Power Plan and its Waters of the United States rule. Paul Ryan, in a speech congratulating President-Elect Trump said â??The opportunity is now here. And the opportunity is to go big, to go bold, and to get things done for the people of this country.â?
