Speaker Ryan Must Step Up for Puerto Rico

Saying the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is facing tough economic times is putting it mildly. The Island has an unemployment rate of 12.4 percent, and a 45 percent poverty rate. Puerto Rico also owes creditors more than $70 billion dollars. In the next fiscal year, its economy is expected to shrink by 16.2 percent. Making matters worse, the island is facing a serious brain drain, with many of Puerto Rico's best and brightest leaving their homes in order to find better economic opportunities on the U.S. mainland.
