To Primary or Not to Primary?

In 2020, the best election result—the one circumventing long-term negative effects on the Republican Party, the United States, and the world—would be one in which Donald Trump is no longer in the White House. But it's difficult to know how such a defeat should play out.

Trump's primary challengers currently include Bill Weld, a former Massachusetts governor who was the nominee for Vice President on the Libertarian ticket in 2016; Joe Walsh, a former United States representative and conservative talk radio show host; and Mark Sanford, a former South Carolina governor and United States representative. None of these men are without faults.
