If you thought the threat of an epidemic that may kill hundreds of thousands of Americans would induce our warring political tribes to lay down their weapons and find common ground, you haven’t been paying attention.
To be sure, there have been moments of cross-partisan solidarity, whether it’s Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) praising COVID-19 prevention advice by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) or Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) praising Donald Trump’s initiative for economic assistance to Americans struggling with the economic fallout of pandemic containment. Or Ben Shapiro enthusiastically sharing a coronavirus support list assembled by the team at Crooked Media.
