Proof That Conservation is Bipartisan

Amid toxic partisanship on Capitol Hill, Republicans and Democrats have found common ground in an effort to bring wildlife management into the 21st Century. The "Recovering America’s Wildlife Act” passed another hurdle in its journey as it advanced through the House Natural Resources Committee this month with a 29-15 vote. If Congress sends RAWA to President Biden’s desk, it would be the biggest bipartisan conservation victory since the Great American Outdoors Act was signed into law by President Trump in 2020.

Today, nearly one third of American wildlife species are at an increased risk of extinction. Without effective conservation programs, iconic species, from the Florida Panther to the Monarch Butterfly face an uncertain future. Fortunately, past wildlife conservation efforts in the U.S. have a strong record of success. Both the Bald Eagle and the American Buffalo were brought back from the brink of extinction in the twentieth century.
