As the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi has clout. In DC and no doubt in San Francisco that clout is reflected in an exclusivity of association. My bet is that she belongs to more than one club whose rules restrict membership to those in her financial and power bracket. Which, as they are likely private organizations, is fine.
But there is another group in San Francisco that has certain rules. It is known as the Roman Catholic Church. Its local branch is the Archdiocese of San Francisco and its head is Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone (cool how much that sounds like Corleone).
