Congress Looks to Stop Funding Animal Testing in Hostile Nations

Last week, the House Appropriations Committee advanced a spending bill which funds the National Institute of Health for the 2023 fiscal year. The bill contains an important amendment that prohibits U.S. tax dollars from funding animal testing labs in countries that the Secretary of State determines to be foreign adversaries, including China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran.

Most taxpayers are unaware that their tax dollars pay for animal experimentation here in the United States. Even fewer are aware that their taxes fund and support animal testing in other nations.
