We Need Computer Chips — & People to Make Them

Congress has enacted investments in semiconductors through the CHIPS and Science Act, and that’s vital. We need more computer chips, but also, we need more of the people and places that can build them. That will build the future.

For America to compete, more cities must thrive.  

Turbulent economic times have exacerbated a vexing, ongoing challenge: Economic growth has missed too many regular cities in America’s heartland. Today, just five in the U.S. account for 90% of the country’s innovation sector, and 16 counties have one-third of all innovation jobs. This excessive concentration of U.S. innovation activity has hurt Americans nationwide.
