What It Would Take To Build Donald Trump's Wall

|

MSNBC takes a look at what would it take to build a wall along the United States-Mexican border to control undocumented immigration. Here are some fast facts.

We already have an interspersed series of physical fences and virtual fences, with sensors and cameras along the southwestern United States, running about 670 miles. This alone cost about $2.4 billion.

There are more than 18,000 Border Patrol Agents and a protection budget of $10.7 billion. That's a 75% increase in the past decade.

The wall that's been described would use about the same amount of concrete as an eight lane highway from San Francisco to New York.

You're talking about 20 million cubic feet of concrete to be laid over 1,933 miles. That's about five times the scale of the Hoover Dam project, that took five years of labor during the Great Depression.
